Fluoridation
Ruling
Health
authorities have recently won the right to add fluoride to drinking water.
However, the local health authorities must consult local communities before
fluoridating water. Keep an eye out for the local campaign.
Supporters
of fluoridation, including the British Dental Association, say it strengthens
teeth and leads to fewer fillings. Opponents claim it can cause a range of
problems, including tooth mottling.
Six
million people in the country already drink fluoridated water either because it
occurs naturally or because it is already added to local supplies – as is the
case in Birmingham. In these areas the incidence of tooth decay, especially
amongst children, is much reduced.
Other News.
As of
January 2004, Newington Green will become a controlled parking area. We are
hoping this will help bring easier access to parking as there will be Pay and
Display bays.
